Taka SatsInstall field app

Community setup

Start Taka Sats in your community.

Start with the full Docs: fork the public source, configure your own infrastructure and staff, test the flow, arrange external funding and prove recovery. No Afribit account or network membership is required.

  1. 1. Choose your external reserve arrangement

Members choose independent signers, verify addresses and rehearse recovery outside Taka Sats. Kibera plans a 2-of-3 BlueWallet Vault; another community makes its own choice. The app receives no reserve seeds or keys.

Follow the official BlueWallet Vault guide
  2. 2. Connect a separate Blink BTC wallet

The community operator creates its own Blink account and BTC wallet. Configure the wallet ID and a Read + Write key privately on that deployment’s backend. Collectors use their own Receive addresses; the operating wallet pays them through the worker.

  3. 3. Fund Blink before inviting collectors

Get a BTC deposit address from that Blink account, check the destination with the members, and sign the agreed refill in the external multisig wallet. A Lightning invoice is an alternative when the funding wallet supports Lightning. Wait for the funds to appear in the BTC available balance; an unconfirmed incoming transfer is not spending money.

Confirm the exact wallet and available balance in Blink and the Taka Sats operating-wallet screen. Keep only the collection budget and fee allowance in the operating wallet. The app cannot limit external deposits.

  4. 4. Prepare the collection area and staff

Publish material rates, create a session with its real location and time window, and assign supervisors. Issue private staff setup phrases, then enroll phone security. Approve collector identities and verify their Receive wallets before weighing. Keep unused test accounts revoked.

  5. 5. Verify one real field sample

Install the app on Android, approve camera/location prompts, check the scale photo, save a collection offline and reconnect to sync. Complete a supervised small-payment check and verify the ledger before inviting more collectors. Choose collectors by name or code; NFC starts only from its icon.

Managed now in Kibera

Afribit Africa manages the current Kibera deployment using its configured Blink wallet. Setting up another community requires its own reserve governance, funded BTC wallet and staff access. This guide does not create a wallet or transfer any money.

Operators can confirm the BTC deposit and balance process in the official provider guide: Blink BTC funding documentation
